Annex to the Memorandum of Understanding between the European Commission and the United Nations Environment Programme

This is a substantive annex to the existing EC-UNEP Memorandum of Understanding (2014), spelling out a range of concrete work areas to be implemented jointly through to 2020. It was signed in April 2015 by UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), Achim Steiner and European Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Karmenu Vella.

This important cooperation agreement forms a solid basis for UNEP's work with the European Commission for the next 5 years and reaffirms Europe's continued support to a strengthened UNEP, following the Rio+20 agreement for the organization to be upgraded.
