EWET had been initiated through a consultative processes between civil society, business and government that started around 1989 and led to EWET's registration on 2 June 1992 in Phuthaditjhaba with its' mission to empower in-school children and youth to become creators of jobs rather than job seekers through entrepreneurship. EWET delivers its Youth Enterprise Society (YES) program and in-school entrepreneurship education program in Southern Africa.
