The Support Team of SPHIP

The SPHIP - ST provides support to eight European Union grants in DR Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos and Haiti, with the common thematic of Strengthening Public Health and to improve their project implementation in order to increase the coherence, efficiency and visibility of the individual programmes.

In particular, SPHIP - ST supports the individual projects in:

• Providing advice to increase performance and impact;
• Tailoring an adequate monitoring plan;
• Boosting their advocacy and knowledge translation strategies for policy change.
• Facilitating exchange and mutual learning between the different country projects;
• Taking a role in stimulating and moderating regional gatherings/meetings;
• Planning for future development of the programme, either through continuation, phasing out or completion of each project;

The project team is composed by:

• Dr. Jaap Koot, Team Leader;
• Mr. Heiko Königstein, Project Coordinator and Backstopping;
• Mr. Javier Burgos, Advocacy and Knowledge Translation Support Officer.
