  1. Youth Ambassadors

    During the European Development Days 2013, there was a strong focus on youth, as the event welcomed for the first time 12 youth ambassadors from around the world, three of whom were 18 or under. Each ambassador was selected to attend a high-level auditorium session where they were encouraged to join the debate by asking questions and sharing their thoughts. To launch Youth Week, two ambassadors, Esther Eshiet and Restanti Waruwu, share their views with capacity4dev.eu on health and nutrition, and how these should be addressed in the post-2015 agenda.

  3. European Development Cooperation in Context: Director General Fernando Frutuoso de Melo

    EuropeAid – or DG DEVCO – is responsible for designing EU development policies and delivering aid to reduce poverty in the world, while ensuring sustainable development and promoting democracy, peace and security. In November last year, EuropeAid welcomed new Director General, Fernando Frutuoso de Melo. Earlier this week, capacity4dev.eu took a camera to his office for an informal conversation on the context of European development cooperation in 2014.

  4. The Development Progress Project: Learning from Implementing the MDGs

    Development Progress is a four-year research project supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and executed by the UK-based Overseas Development Institute (ODI).  It aims to measure, understand and communicate where and how development progress has happened to better inform policy makers and practitioners. Interim findings were presented at a well-attended session during the European Development Days 2013.

    The Practitioners’ Network of European Development Cooperation is an informal platform that brings together European public agencies and institutions in charge of executing bilateral and EU development cooperation. They have joined forces to share their experience and good practice, and work on European Union policy issues with regard to development.
