Coordination team EU-LAC project

The EU-LAC initiative, funded by the European Union, aims to strengthen regional and national capacities in the CELAC countries to support the permanent exchange of information and good practices between these countries, as well as between the EU and the CELAC regions, in area of migration and development policies. 

In the frame of this project, a large range of activities are being carried out around three thematic components: 

1) Data on migration, to acquire detailed knowledge on the migration situation of the CELAC countries in relation to intra-regional flows and on countries which are the main sources of migration towards the EU, 

2) Migration and employment, a) to design strategies to capitalize on the expertise, acquired by migrants during the migratory process, in the countries of origin and b) to enhance the institutional capacity in origin countries to ensure that potential/returned migrants are better informed of local employment and investment opportunities, and 

3) Remittances and development policies, to support migrants and recipient communities in order to maximise the use of remittances as a tool for development
