I am a post-doctoral research scientist working in the Parasites and Vectors Division of the Natural History Museum of London . My expertise in on parasites and Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD), particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. My current research is on schistosomiasis (aka bilharzia), a parasitic disease affecting over 200 million people, harboured by aquatic snails and transmitted to humans through freshwater. I am working on two projects to determine the impact of different schistosomiasis control programs on the parasite populations in Tanzanian and Niger. The results will help inform & guide schistosomiasis and NTD control programs in endemic countries as well as further our understanding of schistosome biology and evolution. I am a fieldwork-based researcher with considerable experience in project management and science communication.
