South South Opportunity

A call for case studies detailing effective south-south cooperation in practice, launched by the Task Team on South-South Cooperation, has generated wide interest.

The case studies are set to feed into preparations for the upcoming High Level Event on south-south cooperation in Bogota, Colombia from the 24 – 26 March. There, participants expect to thrash out policy recommendations ahead of a 2011 High Level Forum on aid effectiveness in South Korea.

As part of the preparations to Bogota, south-south practitioners issued a call for case studies to provide real life examples of how south-south cooperation can work in practice. Over 100 case studies from around the world have been submitted to the South South Opportunity http://www.southsouth.info/ website.

The case studies demonstrate how southern partners have come together around a host of issues from supporting slum dwellers to developing cooperation strategies on disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration.

The case studies seek to showcase south-south cooperation practices and their synergies with the aid effectiveness agenda.

To read more of these interesting case studies, go to this dedicated South South Opportunity website, where you can follow these and other preparations ahead of the international meeting in Bogota.
