Webinar N.1- Introduction to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: principles and structure

The EU funded project "Bridging the Gap II " develops a cycle of webinars to foster a culture of disability mainstreaming in development cooperation's projects and programmes.

The whole webinar cycle is addressed to development practitioners (for instance: agencies, delegations of the European Union), staff in national or local institutions of the partner countries, organisations of persons with disabilities.

The first webinar focuses on understanding the CRPD and analysing its principles and structure. The session starts by explaining the concept of disability as fundamental step to understand why the CRPD is a necessary human-right tool. The session’s content helps answering and understanding the following CRPDrelated questions and concepts: 
 

  • What is disability?
  • Different approaches to disability
  • A short introduction to the Convention
  • What is the purpose of the Convention?
  • Key principles of the human rights approach to disability
  • The structure and content of the Convention

The cycle of webinars is proposed in three languages: French, English, Spanish.
