Policy recommendations on agroecological and other innovative approaches for sustainable agriculture and food systems that enhance food security and nutrition

The aim of the following policy recommendations developed by the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) is to provide guidance to Members and stakeholders in strengthening agroecological and other innovative approaches for sustainable agriculture and food systems that enhance food security and nutrition, and the progressive realization of the right to adequate food in the context of national food security.

The FAO Conference requested the further integration of sustainable agricultural approaches, including agroecology in FAO’s work, supported the Ten Elements of Agroecology endorsed in 2019, and welcomed the Scaling up Agroecology Initiative.

It was endorsed at the Special Session of the 48th Plenary of CFS which took place on Friday, 4 June 2021.
