Clima East regional workshop on International climate negotiations
In order to foster the mutual understanding between EU and EaP climate negotiators about their respective views and positions in international climate negotiations, Clima East has been annually organizing workshops with the support of the European Commission and the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
This year’s workshop will be organised on 21-22 June 2016, following the December 2015 Paris Climate Change Conference, where a historic global agreement to combat climate change was reached – the Paris Agreement (PA) on Climate Change – and the subsequent May 2016 Bonn Climate Change Conference. During the workshop, the negotiators and experts would discuss the elements of the Paris Agreement, the most immediate tasks at hand, such as NDC finalisation and implementation, the emerging Transparency Framework (MRV) and the long term challenges of the PA. The negotiators will also discuss international context of the PA and its ratification. The outcome of the Bonn Climate Change Conference will be discussed with a view of the agenda of the next Climate Change Conference in Marrakesh.
