Joint Declarations on Sustainable Energy

The European Commission has signed 20 Joint Declarations on reinforced cooperation on sustainable energy. All Declarations can be downloaded from the below file.

Seven Joint Declarations were signed during the "Africa in Motion" event at COP21 in Paris in December 2015 by EU Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, and Ministers of partner countries:

  • Nigeria, with France, Germany UK, Spain and Italy;
  • Benin, with France;
  • Senegal, with France and Germany;
  • Kenya, with France, Italy and the Netherlands;
  • Madagascar, with France and Germany;
  • Cameroun, with France;
  • Indian Ocean Commission.

Six Joint Declarations were signed in September 2015 at the Pacific Island Forum Meeting, Papua New Guinea, by EU Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, Miguel Arias Cañete:

  • Marshall Islands;
  • Tonga;
  • Micronesia;
  • Palau;
  • Nauru;
  • Niue.

Two Joint Declarations were signed in May 2015 at the 2nd Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) Forum in New York by Commissioner Mimica:

  • Sierra Leone;
  • Uganda, with Germany and France.

Five Joint Declarations were signed in September 2014 at UN Climate Summit by ex EU Commissioner for Development, Andris Piebalgs, or ex Commission President, José Manuel Barroso:

  • Cape Verde, with France, Spain, Luxembourg, Austria and Portugal;
  • Ivory Coast, with France;
  • Liberia, with Norway;
  • Rwanda;
  • Togo.
