October: Month of Food Security - Building resilience to food insecurity (animated film)

This short animated film, published on 22 September for the October: Month of Food Security, shows how the EU is at the front line, trying to break the vicious cycle of drought, hunger and poverty in West Africa and other developing countries. Natural disasters and man-made crises, such as wars and economic recession, can have a disastrous effect on famers, destroying their livelihoods.  

The EU is working to address the root causes of poverty in 60 countries, supporting the ‘zero hunger initiative’ and the Global Alliance for Resilience Initiative (AGIR) in West Africa as well as the Supporting the Horn of Africa's Resilience' (SHARE) initiative.
