Training "Mainstreaming Child Rights in Tanzania", Dar-es-Salaam (17-18/02/2016)

From
to

The Tanzanian Child Rights Toolkit workshop comes after the adoption of the global Sustainable Development Goals, which are comprised of 17 targets that aim to transform and improve the world by 2030. Happy, healthy and engaged children are integral to achieving these goals and this timely workshop presents civil society and governmental stakeholders in the United Republic of Tanzania with an ideal opportunity to advance the rights and wellbeing of the nation’s children through their work.

Tanzania faces a number of social, economic and political challenges. These issues disproportionately impact upon the lives of children. This is because even if on paper, a policy may seem isolated from children’s rights, in reality there is no such thing as a child-neutral policy. Whether intended or not, every policy positively or negatively affects the lives of children.

In recognition of this, the European Union, UNICEF and the German Development Cooperation have worked in partnership to provide practical guidance to international and national development experts on how to operationalize a rights-based, child and youth-focused approach to their policy making.

This training builds on the joint EU-UNICEF Child Rights Toolkit: Integrating Child Rights in Development Cooperation and a child rights training developed by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). We look forward to welcoming you to this launch and training session.
