Project Environment

Motivation and EVS experience

Agenda X is the Youth Department of The Norwegian Center against Racism. We work to empower, enhance competence and enable youth living in a multicultural society, and have a variety of activities in the creative area. Several of the Youth at Agenda X have been to courses and Youth in Action programmes and projects, and a rising number have met volunteers at occasions. Agenda X would like those interested in volunteer work to get the opportunity to volunteer through Agenda X and Youth in Action. We have no previous experience with the program.

Description of the organisation

Agenda X is The Norwegian Center against Racism's youth department. It is an offer for youth who lives in a society with cultural diversity. The users are the engineers; it is their requests, needs and resources that are important. Boys and girls from 13 to 26 with different backgrounds participate in our activities and projects.
Agenda X has been a place since 1998 where youth can evolve, make dreams come true, become committed, influence society, tell stories, get informed and be empowered.
Youth help Youth is our overall principle. Every activitys main objective is that the boys and girls attending will themselves be role models and teachers for younger boys and girls.
Our activities range from cultural workshops including music, writing and theatre, music studios (Tell X), concerts, school projects, Big brother/sister, girls group (X-ist) and boys group (Malcolm X) and Open house twice a week.
The staff works at the different areas of our activities, and have different backgrounds. Some are youth workers, some have cultural background (artists, actors, musicians, film makers and writers). At the time being, two work full time, and five work part time. In addition several people are volunteers.
