AFS Latvia Intercultural Exchanges is an active volunteer organization in Latvia since 1990. AFS Latvia is the first Latvian exchange and one of the very first volunteer organizations since the years of independence.
AFS Latvia Intercultural Exchanges would like to receive an accredation for EVS programs in Europe for 6-12 months voluntary work abroad for young people at the age of 18-30 years (for both programmes - hosting and sending)
AFS Latvia Intercultural Exchanges motivation to participate in the programme is that the volunteers experience the value of intercultural communication, develop and practice language, leadership and professional skills and participate actively in community activities. Through the meeting with people from other countries the volunteers experience different cultures and way of living and achieve a more balanced views of intercultural differences and hereby contribute to building a more just and peaceful world through understanding.
The motivation for becoming a host, sending and coordinating organisation in the EVS program is that we wish to exchange AFS volunteers between AFS Latvia and other AFS organisations in the program and partner countries. The purpose of such an exchange is primarily to develop and strengthen the AFS organisation both in program countries and in partner countries. AFS Latvia wishes to gain new inspiration from other countries as to the further development of AFS in Latvia– especially with an aim to strengthen its volunteer base.
