Ecole de Cirque de Bruxelles

Project description

The main objective of l'Ecole de Cirque de Bruxelles is to allow each and everyone to progress, to blossom and to strengthen their autonomy thanks to circus arts…whether they are young or old, amateur or professional, physically/mentally challenged or not, fortunate or underprivileged. The school is a microcosm of modern urban society. At l'Ecole de Cirque de Bruxelles, we have developped our own specific pedagogy, that is based on six main values : creativity, learning, pleasure, engagement, personal development and respect. The main fields of activity of the school are the following: Circus Arts Academy (Weekly classes), Professional Trainings, Social Projects (with disabled people and children with fewer opportunities), performing groups, international activities… The volunteers working with us at l'Ecole de Cirque de Bruxelles are mainly involved in 4 sectors : Administration, Communication, Logistics and Pedagogy.

Training during the project

The volunteers will never be alone : they will be supported by their mentor for all practical and well being aspects, and by a reference person for all the activities of the circus school they will be involved into. For their own personal development and in the frame of our circus lessons dedicated to adults, we also encourage the volunteers (if they want) to discover our pedagogy by following one or several circus techniques. This experience which will allow them to feel all the benefits of this practice on their social and personal development.

Volunteer profile

Four sector have been specifically selected in order to be able to qualitatively host a volunteer : Administration, Communication, Logistics and Pedagogy (more info here : https://www.ecbru.be/accueil/sve/info.html) . We are thus looking for volunteers who have experience in one or several of those domains (it is possible to work in more than one of those sectors). To integrate our team, it’s important to be open-minded, share our values, willing to work in team, have of course interest in our circus projects, a great sense of adaptability, and know a minimum level of French.
