Institute of Ukrainian Studies is non-profit, non-governmental organization.
The aims of organization are:
– to develop young leaders;
– to spread true and positive image of Ukraine throughout the world through increasing cooperation with NGOs, civil society, state and international institutions.
In its daily activities our organization organizes projects aimed at increasing cooperation with local youth, ensuring active participation of young people in local life. We also closely cooperate with the Department of the Youth, Family and Sports as well as department of Education and Science of the Lviv city council in organizing different youth activities including youth seminars, conferences, trainings, etc. Our members (over 100) mostly are students of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and Lviv National Polytechnic University. Their academic interests vary from International Relations and Journalism to Mechanical Physics. Our members come from different social backgrounds including youth with fewer opportunities, youth from rural areas and youth with disabilities.
The organization has also hosted a number of youth exchanges, training courses and partnership building activities. One of the biggest projects hosted by Institute of Ukrainian studies was International Youth Convention of the international network Youth for Exchange and Understanding. It was youth exchange hosting 90 youngsters from all over Europe.
Since 2009 we act as sending organisation. During this time we have sent volunteers for short and long term EVS to Germany, Greece, Romania, Turkey and Slovakia. All of these projects were and are successful.
In 2009 we hosted a volunteer from The Netherlands coming from socially disadvantaged background. In 2010 we hosted three visually impaired volunteers from Poland who were working in Lviv boarding school for the blind. They organised different activities for blind children.
Institute of Ukrainian Studies is the member of 4 networks: Terra di Mezzo International (TDM International), Youth for Exchange and Understanding (YEU), EURO – NET and Youth Eastern Partnership.
This organisation is willing to involve volunteers who face situations which make their participation in activities more difficult, from the following categories for different types of project:
