Interviwe with TEGV voluntary Nazlı Bilgekay

TEGV -Interview with the volunteer Nazlı Bilgekay.

Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey (TEGV) was founded in January 23, 1995 with the aim of “supporting the primary education provided by the government”

The objective of Educational Volunteers is to create and implement educational programs and extracurricular activities for children aged 7-16, so that they can acquire skills, knowledge and attitudes supporting their development as rational, responsible, self-confident, peace-loving, inquisitive, cognizant, creative individuals, who are against any kind of discrimination, respect diversity and are committed to the basic principles of the Turkish Republic.

Cynthia: When did you start to make voluntarism?

Nazli: I have just started volunteering at Punta Youth and Sport Club. However my first volunteer work began in 2011 in Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey (TEGV).I am volunteering since then.

C: Why did you join TEGV?

N:I have chosen TEGV because I think our future can change only through children. When I first started here I figured that educating children is very important ,because you are the person may change his/her future. You can change these children all decisions in their whole life. They may become a good or bad people.

C: What are the main activities this center does and how do you collaborate and help there?

N: We have different activities about music, sport, foreign languages, environment, media, local dances, art etc. and now I am giving English course now. TEGV founded in 1995.” The prerequisite for seeing brighter faces in the future of Turkey, is to provide children with the best educational opportunities today” is the main philosophy of foundation.

To finish with, Nazli gives us some recommendation to young people to become a volunteer in TEGV

“If you want to be a volunteer TEGV just go to a learning unit or education part –which one is close to you- and I guarantee that you we’ll become a part of this massive family. This is one of the best things of TEGV everybody is ready to be a friend with you.”
