"Traveling is so much fun and something that everyone should do! So here’s a video and some information with tips on how you can travel for free or make the most out of your traveling."
"If 2016 would have gone to plan, I would have been studying in university in London, but it didn’t and I found myself on my own in a flat in Belfast working full time. This changed allowed me time to take up opportunities I may never have come across or been unable to take because of university.
I got involved in the UK Young Ambassadors and travelled to Amsterdam to represent the UK as part of Structured Dialogue. I took part in a cultural exchange programme funded by Erasmus+, where I spent 2 weeks in the Netherlands with 20 other young people learning about Project Management. These were amazing opportunities and whilst I learnt a lot I also made friends for life.
I’m no expert, but I wanted to share a few tips on where to find opportunities for young people to travel, volunteer and make the most of being young!
European Solidarity Corps:
The European Solidarity Corps brings together all the European funding programmes that are available for young people all under one roof. If you’re interested in volunteering or working, home or abroad you’ll find lots of amazing opportunities here. You can take part between the ages of 18-30 (you can register at17), and after registering you could be selected and invited to join a wide range of projects, such as helping to prevent natural disasters or rebuild afterwards, assisting in centres for asylum seekers, or addressing different social issues in communities for anywhere between 2 and 12 months.
Eurodesk UK is an information and support service to help young people and youth organisations find out about opportunities in Europe. You can find opportunities to work, volunteer, travel and get the most out of Europe. They also provide support and guidance for young people. So if you have any questions, you can ask them and they will get back to you with a personalised response, or you can browse through the advice on the website.
Opportunity Desk is an online platform to share opportunities that provide learning and growth opportunities around the world. These include scholarships, conferences, jobs, fellowships, internships and grants for young people and youth organisations.
This group is to develop your network for #ERASMUS+ projects and to communicate with new partners from United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and across all European countries.
This is a good place to learn about new organisations and communicate with the organisers.
International Citizen Service (ICS):
ICS is an overseas volunteering programme for 18-25 year olds, funded by the UK Government’s Department for International Development. To volunteer you don’t need cash, skills or qualifications – just the ambition to make a difference."
