II HEALTHY WEEK organized by the Tomiño town hall (Pontevedra)

The second edition of the Healthy Week came to its end after five days of intense activity. The second year consecutively the Tomiño town hall conmamorates the World Day of Health, April 7th, this year 2016 dedicated to Diabetes.

The “II Healthy Week” began last Monday, April 4th, offering a minimum of two or  a maximum of three activities until April 8th, every afternoon. The offered workshops and conferences were diversified, treating of different topics related to health such as sexuality, positions facilitating birth, how to fight stress etc. The participation was free and it was offered a service of nursery free of charge.

The “II Healthy Week” began last Friday and was inaugurated by a conference called “How to handle stress” and imparted by a Psychologist gestalt, followed by  a workshop of meditation. Tuesday, the workshops were oriented to fathers, mothers, teachers and other professionals related to youths, because it treated the following topics: “Detection and consume of alcohol and other drugs of youths” and “Keys of using and abusing new technologies in youth”. Wednesday, birth and sexuality were protagonists within a practical workshop of “positions facilitating birth” imparted by a perinatal physiotherapist and a conference of Dr. Isabel Pardiñas of topics such as reproduction, problems with fertility, human papilloma virus etc.

 

Conmemorating the World Day of Health itself, Tuesday 7th of April, it was offered a practical workshop of acupuncture in which the present person could benefit of experimenting this ancient practice. In continuation it was offered a lecture about the benefits of yoga, followed by one hour of practicing different types of yoga. This intense day was finished by a Gong concert and afterwards a show of sound therapy.

 

Friday afternoon, as conclusion of this week, a nurse of the health centre and a doctor offered a workshop about “myths and truths about SINTROM” in which the present person learned in a practical way to interpret the role of SINTROM. Followed by a conference imparted by a dentist of a dental clinic in which he informed about illnesses of the gums and their relation to health in general (focusing on diabetes). Also about this disease, to which it was dedicated 7th of April this year, treated the workshop called “our aliments, our medicines” imparted by a naturopath.

This “Healthy Week” organized by the Tomiño town hall, was free of charge and with a service of nursery for free to facilitate the participation of person with children. In each workshop and conference participated an average of 45 persons.
