Translation traineeships and placements in the European Parliament

Translation traineeships

These traineeships are awarded only to university graduates over 18 years old, nationals of a Member State of the European Union or a candidate country, and their purpose is to enable trainees to supplement the knowledge acquired during their studies and to familiarise themselves with the activities of the European Parliament.
 

Applicants for a translation traineeship for university graduates must have:

  • a university degree following a course of study of at least three years’ duration; 
  • a perfect knowledge of one of the official languages of the European Union or the official language of a candidate country;
  • a thorough knowledge of two other official languages of the European Union.
     

Translation traineeships for university graduates usually last 3 months and they take place in Luxembourg.
 

Translation training placements

The European Parliament also offers translation training placements to applicants over 18 years old, nationals of a Member State of the European Union or a candidate country, who have:

  • obtained a secondary-school leaving certificate corresponding to the level required for entry to university or followed a higher or technical course of study to an equivalent level;
  • a perfect knowledge of one of the official languages of the European Union or the official language of a candidate country;
  • a thorough knowledge of two other official languages of the European Union.

Priority is given to applicants who must complete a training placement as part of their course of study.
 

Translation training placements usually last between 1 and 3 months and they take place in Luxembourg.
 

Deadline

Interested applicants both for translation traineeships and training placements should apply only by using the online application form.
 

Application deadlines are:

  • 15 August (midnight) for traineeships starting on 1 January;
  • 15 November (midnight) for traineeships starting on 1 April;
  • 15 February (midnight) for traineeships starting on 1 July;
  • 15 May (midnight) for traineeships starting on 1 October.
