First European Presidential Debate in Maastricht

The candidates for the presidency of the European Commission will answer questions from thousands of young Europeans and battle out key issues in front on an audience of 700 young people. Follow live on Euronews TV, website or mobile app.

Candidates participating are:

  • Jean-Claude Juncker (European People’s Party);
  • Martin Schulz (Party of European Socialists);
  • Guy Verhofstadt (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party);
  • Ska Keller (European Green Party).

The debate will focus on the issues that matter most to young Europeans; the questions will be gathered using a unique participatory process, through collaboration between Maastricht University and the European Youth Forum/League of Young Voters.

The debate will be available live in 13 languages: Arabic, English, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Ukrainian.

And don't forget, you can also have your own say: submit the questions you would like to ask the future President of the European Commission at #EUdebate2014 and it may be one of the questions that will be asked during the first ever European Presidential Debate.
