“Youth Information Centres are very popular in Estonia, Finland but also in all western Europe countries. Therefore, Vilnius is the leader in this region because Latvians and Poles still don’t have these centers. Centre staff will counsel in most important issues for youth – from the best places to ride a skateboard to the best modes to find a job” – said Mayor of Vilnius Artūras Zuokas during Vilnius Youth Information Centre opening ceremony.
“Opening of this center is very important for all young people in Lithuania. Finally we are going to have a place where young person can find all relevant information provided by qualified specialists. We have the aim to inform youth by talking to them in their language, to create a space where it is easy to ask questions and to get answers, to resolve problems and to understand the variety of all existing possibilities that can be accessible by young people. We hope it is a great start for high-quality youth information in Lithuania. In future Youth Information Centers should be opened in other cities and Vilnius will be a good inspiration for them” – said Lithuanian Youth Council’s (LiJOT) President Mantas Zakarka.
Centre staff will provide information in 12 major themes: youth volunteering, work, studies, leisure time, psychological and social assistance, international mobility, ecc. This center is set up in Vilnius City Municipality by initiative of Youth Affairs Department, in cooperation with the Lithuanian Youth Council (LiJOT).
