Art for your soul
I started to search about this phrase and the methodology of it's work. What I found it made me speechless - it is an setting that facilitates growth and healing. It is used to express your thoughts and feelings, and to release yourself from stress and problems. Another good thing about it, is that you don't need to be an artist for it or have special drawing skills, this method will enable you self-exploration.
In Croatia, this method is quite new and there are not a lot of art therapists, but you can also do it by yourself. I have bought an colouring book, which I didn't have from my childhood. Colouring books are something for children, to play and to spend their free time with creative process. Well, they aren't only for children, they are also for young people and adults, but for another purpose - for Art therapy.
Today life is very stressful and this can help you to relax, to reconcile emotional conflicts, reduce anxiety, increase self esteem. While expressing your feelings through drawing and colours you are concentrate on yourself and your well being. At first, I was just watching this colouring book and I was amazed how good it was drawn, I didn't want even to try to colour anything inside, so that I don't ruin anything but after a week, I decided to give it a try - to colour something and to see if this will have any impact on me. I was really surprised. The colours that I was putting in different drawn objects and images spoke from my unconscious and it helped me to feel relaxed, to take time for myself and to express my inner capacity. Nowadays, I often colour and it really helps me to pass over stressful situations, to accept things and to connect with myself. It is an art for my soul.
