EATING DISORDERS I

Eating disorders are a large number of disorders that affect all human dimensions. They are also multi causal and very serious diseases.

The eatings disorders affect a person's physical dimension (causing illness or death), often caused by a desire for social acceptance (social dimension) and generate a mental disorder that controls our actions and therefore generates disease (or keep ) leading us to act in a certain way .

The beginning of such a vacuum may occur in any of the aforementioned dimensions, varying according to the individual and specific case. Generally we would say that usually occurs in young women and that the most prevalent, are the known “anorexia and bulimia nervosa “. However, society is changing rapidly and with it, changes in these disorders and the characteristics of people who have them. Today there are many men who suffer from these disorders at varied ages , which we must know each case and not get carried away by the generalizations

Then briefly explain other changes in eating disorders existing today , ignoring the known anorexia and bulimia.

Vigorexia: When a person is excessively obsessed with their physical appearance and begins to look it weak and frail, is when we talk about vigorexia. To "solve your problem", this person gives priority to intensive training sessions, combined with an excessive intake of carbohydrates and proteins. In addition, many of these persons added anabolic and other substances to increase muscle mass.

Orthorexia: It´s an eating behavior disorder in which the affected person consumes only healthy foods that he believes. Apparently it's a correct behavior, but do not forget that is governed only by the opinion of the person, which can lead to serious health disorders such as malnutrition.

Potomanía: Also called "psychogenic polydipsia", this condition occurs when the person drink large amounts of water without thirst, just for the pleasure of drinking obsessively liquid (often more than 8 liters). Although water intake is good for the body, in large amounts can alter the composition of the blood, kidney function and fluid and electrolyte balance.

Megarexia: Is the opposite of the famous "anorexia". The person that suffer this disease, suffers a distortion own body image, looks herself slim and good looking, but most are really obese. They tend to eat unhealthy food (rich in fats and sugars) and they are people dangerously malnourished.

Diabulemia: is a disorder that occurs in people with diabetes. The insulin consumption generally makes them increase weight and they decide to restrict  this, make purges of all kinds, or make compulsively sport. It is named because containing the combination of diabetes and bulimia among the features that describe it.

Drunkorexia: Usually occurs among young people. The desire to have fun and be accepted by the social group of peers, seems to be the cause of this disorder.

These people stop eating to drink without gaining weight. In this case, the disease is very dangerous, as we find young people who consume large amounts of alcohol, in malnourished bodies.
