Social Gardens-Community Orchard

Not only from political, taking decisions centres can act to try to contribute ideas to help save our environment more hedges, and by extension the world. More and more citizens' initiatives from local try give a hand. An example is the creation of social or community urban gardens.

At this time everybody knows the importance it will have on our future sustainable management of our environment. We are becoming more aware of the importance of the impact of human activity on the planet.

That is why countries are increasingly concerned about the quality of climate and are intent on improving development planning of cities and municipalities. In addition to meeting and conference summits on climate, climate change, eco-development and opportunities for reflection on what should be the way forward to ensure a healthy future.

But not only from political, taking decisions centres can act to try to contribute ideas to help save our environment more hedges, and by extension the world. More and more citizens' initiatives from local try give a hand.

A clear example is the creation of social or community urban gardens. There are few municipalities that currently have specific spaces for creating spaces in parks or green areas. And not only from the municipal initiative, since both social starts third sector organizations who care and engaged in promoting such actions appear.

The Urban Gardens are not only growing product areas. Are spaces of social gathering, awareness and educational spaces for people. They are also of reflection on the development of the sustainable city, in an attempt to limit the effect of the city in the climate change.

With this idea we see the development of urban gardens is accompanied by a growth in socio and awareness programs on the environment.

In general we can say that there are two types of urban gardens. Managed public administration from those areas that are promoted from, best-known citizen organizations as community gardens. Both they share the basics that are the seeding programs and environmental education programs, but coming from different initiatives also has their differences.

- The seeding programs: are aimed at the general population and have in common the method, which is a clear and firm commitment to organic farming. The differences we found that while in municipalities a rotation system is set to trying to offer more people the chance to enjoy an orchard near his place of residence space, community gardens and the group the entire working area of cultivation for a fair distribution of production.

- Environmental education programs: from the Administration these spaces as centres of environmental education are used in this way educative centres offers space for young people to learn the benefits of a more responsible management of food, and all this working together with social organizations in the municipality. In community gardens and activities of various kinds are also carried out: Cooking workshops with organic products, recycling, days of living, workshop of bread, oil, wine, soap, etc. And on more than one occasion participating in programs of Banks Time and Community Money.

Such gardens are increasingly in the city and you just have to take a look at our environment to find any. Participate in these initiatives that make our cities more friendly places can be a good way to collaborate for better in the environment from the most local, but with major effects locally.
