Us, Art and the Community was a youth initiative supported by the Youth in Action [internal link] programme. The initiative was led by a group of 6 young people from the Mayfield area of Cork City, Ireland, who had few links to youth services.
Participants were aged between 15 and 17. Not all were still in education. Two members of the group were of Roma origin and had questions about their identity that they wanted to explore. The young people looked at many topics including health, the environment, participation, identity and team-building.
