Youth Initiatives offers young people a chance to develop their skills by running their own projects on topics that really matter to them.
Who is it for?
Part of the Youth in Action programme, Youth Initiatives is for four or more people aged 18-30 working on an idea together. 15 year olds and over can also be involved but they will need a youth worker coach.
Project participants need to be under 30 years of age and live in the UK. If they belong to a youth group they may be able to help you with your application, but remember ideas all come from the young people themselves.
In the past projects have focussed on art, health and sport, environment and disability.
Projects will run for three to 18 months, but the memories stay with you forever! It might even lead to people starting your own organisation.
The participants can decide where to run your project. It could take place in local neighbourhoods, with others across the UK or maybe with another group of like-minded young people in another European country.
After all that?
Not only will young people walk away from projects with new friends and experiences, they will also qualify for a Youthpass certificate recording what you have achieved which could help with future employment opportunities.
