According to the United Nations human trafficking is the third-biggest source of profit for organised criminals after the drugs trade and arms trafficking.
Learn about it
To get an idea of the scale of the problem, read the Council of Europe’s You’re Not For Sale comic strips. The stories of Talina, Fabia, Yvo, Anna and Sofia illustrate all forms of exploitation. The fight against the trafficking of human beings has become one of the Council of Europe's priorities.

EU anti-trafficking day takes place on 18 October every year. Why not get involved? In 2010, the European Commission presented a new Directive to ensure better protection of and assistance to victims of human trafficking with the goal to prevent such crimes.
