Permanent stay

If you have obtained your professional qualification out of the EU, you should check with responsible authority whether you can apply for the recognition of your professional qualifications.

If you wish to work as a physiotherapist in Liechtenstein on a permanent basis you will have to submit the following documents:

  • Proof of nationality, Nationality of Liechtenstein or National of a member of the EEA or equivalent on the basis of treaty
  • Proof of relevant professional qualification
  • Extract from police records
  • Medical certificate as proof of the health requirement for professional practice
  • Professional indemnity
  • Required language ability
  • Proof of premises and equipement
  • Persons willing to practive in the health sector as employees need to identify the employer
  • Copy of passport
  • Education and training diploma to proof the completion of at least three years of training at a recognized school of physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Proof of two years of practice at the physiotherapy specialized department of a hospital, whereby one year can be done at a freelancer physiotherapist

Duration of the procedure [permanent stay]

The duration of the recognition procedure is:

  • 1 month to acknowledge receipt of your application and request any documents they need.
  • 2 weeks to take a decision after reception of all necessary documents.

Temporary stay

If you have obtained your professional qualification out of the EU, you should check with responsible authority whether you can apply for the recognition of your professional qualifications.

If you wish to work as a physiotherapist in Liechtenstein on a temporary basis you will have to submit the following documents:

A certification emerging that:

  • The service provider is legally settled for the relevant activity in the county of settlement
  • The service provider has not been banned (permanent or temporarily) to carry out the activity at the moment the certificate is presented
  • Proof of professional qualification
  • Proof of nationality
  • In cases mentioned in Art. 31 para 2 (In case that the profession or education is not regulated in the county of settlement and he carried out the professin at least two years in the previous 10 years) a proof, that the service provider has carried out the relevant profession as a freelance
  • In certain cases, the professional qualification the professional qualification may be checked befor the first activity
