Validity is generally unlimited, but there is a 'point system' for traffic offenders.

Driving licence rules for new residents

If you are an EU citizen with a driving licence with unlimited validity issued in another EU/EFTA county, in principle your licence will have unlimited validity in Germany too. There are some exceptions, e.g. licences for certain vehicle categories such as lorries.

Validity of EU driving licences in Germany

If you are a national of a non EU‑country or your licence was issued in one, your licence will be valid for 6 months after you register as resident in Germany. Thereafter it must be exchanged for a German licence.
