European Parliament elections – Luxembourg

To be able to vote in European Parliament elections, foreign EU citizens need to register on the electoral roll in the municipal administration of their place of residence.

To be eligible to vote in European Parliament elections you must:

  • be at least 18 years old on election day;
  • not be disqualified from voting in Luxembourg or in another EU country;
  • live in Luxembourg (at the time of registration on the electoral roll).

To be eligible he conditions to stand as a candidate in European Parliament elections you must:

  • be at least 18 years old on election day;
  • be a Luxembourg or EU national;
  • not be disqualified from standing as a candidate in Luxembourg or in another EU country;
  • live in Luxembourg (at the time of registration on the electoral roll).

Voting in European Parliament elections is compulsory for everybody on the electoral roll.
