Registering your residence when abroad

You must register your residence if you stay in Finland for more than 3 months You must register with the police authority of the place of residence within 3 months of the date of arrival in the country. If you don't register, you can be fined.

You don't need to carry your registration certificate at all times but foreign nationals may be required to report to the police with their documents.
