Statistical bodies
The Department of Statistics is a government institution that coordinates official statistics and implements state policy in the area of statistics organisation and methodology.
Types of statistics
Mandatory statistics means statistics collected for EU and national needs as provided in the EC Statistical Work Programme and the Official Statistics Work Programme.
The Official Statistics Work Programme sets the following:
- the extent and method of statistical research;
- the frequency;
- the terms and methods of the publication of information;
- the legal basis, etc.
Every business selected for research that year is informed in a letter about participation, frequency of reporting, and terms.
Statistics supplied on voluntary basis means research of companies which is not included in the Official Statistics Work Programme.
Administrative procedures
Submitting statistics
Providers of statistics may submit statistical reports to the Department of Statistics electronically.
The electronic collection system allows users to consult a calendar of their submissions and templates of reports, and to check submitted reports and transfer new ones.
The following needs to be done in order to be able to provide statistical data online:
- submit a written consent of the head of the business to the Department of Statistics;
- register your business/institution and receive system login details.
Also, reports may be filled out electronically after installing electronic report form templates and the program ABBYY eFormFiller on a computer.
Filled out reports may be printed out and submitted in the usual way.
Please inform about all changes (the status of the business, type of activities, postal and email addresses, etc.) by sending an email to
