The National Statistical Service of Greece (NSSG) functions as the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and operates under a specific legislative framework which has recently been revised.

The General Secretariat of the National Statistical Service of Greece (NSSG) is the official body that collects and provides statistical information. Intrastat is NSSG's system for electronic submissions.
Should business activities involve the transfer of goods to EU countries, an Intrastat statistical declaration is required when:
- a tax document is provided by the product owner, based in an EU member state, to a person in another member state;
- the business exceeds the thresholds defined by the NSSG;
- one of the following intra-community activities occurs: delivery of used goods and objects of artistic, collectible or archaeological value or sale at an auction by taxable resellers.
The Intrastat mandatory declaration should be submitted electronically through the NSSG online system or to the local tax office of the area in which the company is based in the months during which intra-community transactions (acquisitions or deliveries) were carried out.
Any bodies undertaking public contracts of supply, are required to send to the Ministry of Development (Gen. Secretariat for Trade), by the 31st July of each year, statements with statistics relating to the supply contracts undertaken during the previous year.
