Commissioner Andor welcomes provisional agreement on Posting of Workers
"I welcome today's approval by the Permanent Representatives Committee (Coreper) of the compromise agreed between European Parliament and Council in Trilogue on the enforcement Directive on posting of workers.
All institutions demonstrated the necessary spirit of compromise and flexibility, which enabled them to reach a provisional agreement. It gives a clear signal: Europe does not accept fraud or the abuse of the applicable rules at the expense of posted workers.
The provisional text contains a balanced, comprehensive package of appropriate measures guaranteeing a better protection of posted workers, creating a more transparent legal framework for service providers, and building up the confidence in the Single Market.
If adopted, the text will improve the effective implementation, application and enforcement in practice of the existing Directive on the posting of workers, especially in some sectors such as construction and road haulage, where so called 'letter box' companies use the posting rules to exploit workers.
I now urge European Parliament and Council to definitively adopt the Directive as soon as possible, so that a clear and transparent legal framework for posted workers can be quickly applied across the EU."
