The European Commission announced today deductions from 2012 fishing quotas of those Member States that had exceeded their quotas in 2011. Key components of EU-Iraq Partnership and Cooperation Agreement take effect
Trade and sectoral cooperation components of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) signed by the EU and Iraq on 11 May 2012 enter into force today, pending ratification of the Agreement as a whole. Part of the first ever contractual relationship between the EU and Iraq, the key provisions include cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, human rights, science and technology, energy and the environment. As part of the Agreement, both sides have accepted World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules, which include granting each other 'Most Favoured Nation' (MFN) status.
