Countdown to the European Development Days 2013 Only 5 days until it starts!

What are the European Development Days?

The European Development Days (EDDs) are Europe’s premier forum on global cooperation and development. This year's edition (the eighth already) will focus on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and on the global framework which will succeed them by 2015.

High level speakers, representatives from civil society, private sector and academia from all continents will come together to debate the content of the next agenda which should address global poverty and sustainable development. There will be as much as 80 interactive sessions (full programme available here).

EDD13 will take place in Brussels (Tour & Taxi) on 26 – 27 November

Who will participate?

More than 340 experts and global leaders will take the floor and 4,000 participants have registered.

Featured speakers include:

  • José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission

  • Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, President of the African Union Commission

  • Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia

  • Mahamadou Issoufou, President of Niger

  • José Maria Neves, Prime Minister of Cape Verde

  • Portia Simpson Miller, Prime Minister of Jamaica

  • Fawzia Y. H. Adam, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Somalia

What is in it for the media?

At EDD13, you will have the possibility to:

  • Attend the press conference with EU Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs (on November 26, at 16.30), where he will present results of a European-wide survey on what citizens think of Development Aid

  • meet the major European development policy stakeholders and donors and conduct one-on-one interviews with VIPs, upon request;

  • make use of media facilities, such as the TV and radio studio, press corners for bilateral interviews; working press room. Free wifi available at the venue.

Live web-streaming of all sessions in the three main auditoriums will be available online in French, English and in the speakers’ native language.
