President Barroso's message of condolences on the passing away of Ravi Shankar
I was moved and saddened to learn the news of the passing away of Ravi Shankar. I send my sincere condolences to his family and to the people of India.
I want to pay tribute to Ravi Shankar's unique gift and talent as a musician and a composer, allowing people all over the world to experience India's rich musical universe. In an age before the term multi-culturalism was widely used, Ravi Shankar crossed genres and continents in his collaborations, building musical bridges that took us on the most unexpected journeys. Ravi Shankar was a true Ambassador of India's culture and heritage. His work will continue to inspire future generations.
