President Barroso to meet Chinese Vice-Premier Li Keqiang
European Commission President José Manuel Barroso will meet Chinese Vice-Premier Li Keqiang on Thursday, 3 May 2012.
The EU-China bilateral relations are growing in breadth and depth through the inclusion of many new key areas of cooperation. Vice-Premier Li’s visit will provide an important opportunity to further strengthen the EU-China partnership, take stock of progress in the implementation of the 14th EU-China Summit held in February 2012 in Beijing and prepare the next Summit to be held this autumn in Brussels.
President Barroso and Vice-Premier Li will have substantial discussions on EU-China bilateral relations and cooperation including trade, investment and innovation, as well as on economic developments in the EU and China. They will also exchange views on global issues such as the preparation of the G20 Summit in Mexico and the Rio + 20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Finally, both leaders will discuss topical foreign policy issues such as the situation in Syria and Iran.
