Preparation Agriculture/Fisheries Council of July 2011
The Agriculture & Fisheries Council will meet in Brussels on Tuesday 19 July (starting at 10 a.m.). It will be chaired by Mr Marek SAWICKY, Polish Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development. Commissioners Maria Damanaki and Dacian Cioloş will represent the Commission.
Fisheries issues will be dealt with in the morning. In the afternoon, agriculture points will be treated. Over lunch Ministers will have a discussion on "Energy use of biomass from agriculture as an important element of the CAP: Conclusions from the Ministerial Conference held in 16 July 2011 in Sopot"

Working programme of the Presidency
The Polish Presidency will outline the main priorities in the field of agriculture, food safety and fisheries for the second semester of 2011.
Reform of Common Fisheries Policy
Maria Damanaki, Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries will present the Common Fisheries Policy reform package, which has been adopted by the European Commission on the 13th of July. The package is being submitted to the European Parliament and Council for adoption under the ordinary legislative procedure (co-decision). The Commission aims for entry into force by 1 January 2013.
Any other business
France and Ireland will present a request for adapting the 2011 TAC for cod in the Celtic Sea following a positive scientific assessment.
Green paper on promotion for agricultural products
On 14 July, the European Commission has launched a debate on the future of promotion and information schemes for EU agricultural products. With the publication of a Green Paper on these issues, the Commission is looking at how to shape a more targeted and more ambitious strategy for the future, which will make clearer to consumers – both in the EU and beyond - the quality, traditions and added-value of European agricultural and food products.
