Statement of President Barroso following the shooting in West Cumbria

The President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso has sent the following message of condolences to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, the Rt Hon David Cameron following the shooting in West Cumbria today. "Dear Prime Minister, I am deeply shocked and saddened to learn about the horrific shooting in West Cumbria earlier today. On behalf of the European Commission, I would like to offer our sincerest condolences to you and the people of the United Kingdom. Please extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims, and those injured, in this appalling incident.
