"Tlaqqigħa Ewropea" f'Cannes fil-Festival Internazzjonali tal-Films

Għoxrin film Ewropew iffinanzjati mill-programm MEDIA tal-Unjoni Ewropea ntgħażlu biex jintwerew fit-63 Festival Internazzjonali tal-Films ta' Cannes, fosthom sitt films li qed jikkompetu għall-premju Palme d'Or (ara l-anness għad-dettalji). Is-17 ta' Mejju huwa 'it-Tlaqqigħa Ewropea' f'Cannes, meta l-festival jiċċelebra l-aħjar taċ-ċinema Ewropea. Il-Kummissarju Androulla Vassiliou se tħabbar ir-rebbieħ tal-Premju Talent Ewropew 2010 li se jingħata lill-aħjar proġett għal film b'dimensjoni Ewropea. Flimkien mal-President tal-Festival Gilles Jacob, hija se tiltaqa' wkoll ma' professjonisti tal-industrija u ma' rappreżentanti tal-istituzzjonijiet Ewropej u internazzjonali tal-films biex tiddiskuti l-finanzjament għal min jagħmel il-films.

"Ninsab ferħana li l-films Ewropej għal darb'oħra qed ikunu protagonisti qawwija f'Cannes," qalet il-Kummissarju Vassiliou, li hija responsabbli għall-edukazzjoni u l-kultura. "L-Ewropa tista' tkun kburija biċ-ċinema diversa u vibranti tagħha. Jie kburija wkoll li l-programm MEDIA huwa parti minn din l-istorja ta' suċċess. L-appoġġ finanzjarju li huwa jipprovdi jgħin biex jinħolqu u jkunu mħarsa eluf ta' impjiegi fis-settur. Huwa għandu wkoll l-għan li jgħin liċ-ċinemas iżgħar b'mod partikulari biex jaddattaw għall-bidla teknoloġika u s-suq globali."

Illum id-diġitizzazzjoni hija sfida kbira għaċ-ċinemas: proġekter diġitali u server ġodda jiswew madwar EUR 75 000, investiment kbir għal ħafna ċinemas. Iktar tard din is-sena l-Kummissjoni qed tippjana li tniedi skema, permezz tal-programm MEDIA, li se tikkontribwixxi sa 50 % ta' din l-ispiża għaċ-ċinemas li juru fil-biċċa l-kbira films Ewropej.

B’mod globali, il-programm MEDIA se jikkontribwixxi EUR 755 miljun biex jappoġġja l-industrija tal-films fl-Ewropa mill-2007 sal-2013, b’enfasi fuq it-titjib tad-distribuzzjoni u l-promozzjoni tal-films Ewropej u biex tissaħħaħ il-kompetittività tas-settur. Kumpaniji tal-produzzjoni magħżula għall-appoġġ tipikament jirċievu għotjiet ta’ EUR 50 000 bħala medja.

Tmienja mill-aħħar 10 rebbieħa tal-Palme d'Or mis-sena 2000 irċevew appoġġ mill-programm MEDIA. Diversi oħrajn rebħu Oscars għall-aħjar film barrani.

At a conference held at the launch of his latest book, which is about "the close links between originals and copies in art", a writer meets a gallery owner, with whom he goes to a village near Florence, where they face the problem of distinguishing between fiction and reality.

FILM SOCIALISME (Socialism). Director: Jean-Luc GODARD (CH)

A symphony in three movements. In the Mediterranean: a cruise with numerous conversations in numerous languages between passengers, almost all of whom are on holiday ... Our Europe: one night, a girl and her younger brother summon their parents to appear before their children's court. They demand serious explanations of what is meant by liberty, equality and fraternity. Our Humanities: visits to six sites of true or false legends in Egypt, Palestine, Odessa, Greece, Naples and Barcelona.


The wanderings of a nurse who, alienated by the death surrounding her, sets off in search of a lost childhood friend … A story about the relative nature of memory, uncertainty about our past and, above all, self-discovery.

The second in a series of six films devoted to Bucharest, Aurora recounts the wanderings through the Romanian capital of Viorel, the 42-year-old father of two young daughters and metallurgical engineer who has recently quit his job but is determined to bring to an end the insecurity that has dominated his life since his divorce.

Amadeus Warnebring, a police officer who was born into an illustrious musical family but hates music, has to track down a group of delinquents whose twisted art is producing chaos and unrest in the city. When he realises that the woman he loves is a member of the group he is pursuing, he is left with no choice: he must enter the world he has spent his entire life fleeing.

She decides to conform, however, when she discovers that her daughter is too ashamed of her to invite her to her wedding.
