Commission approves German aid scheme to promote use of hybrid buses in public transport
The European Commission has authorised today German state aid supporting market acceptance of highly efficient vehicle technologies. The initiative is aimed at reducing the environmental impact of bus traffic.
Under the aid scheme notified by the German authorities, direct aid will be granted to transport companies providing local public transport services for the purchase of hybrid buses. The buses must comply with strict emission standards. The total budget over the two-year period is €20 million.
The Commission considers that the aid is in line with EU state aid rules (Article 87 (3) (c) of the EC Treaty).
