Commission approves Polish aid scheme for intermodal transport
The European Commission authorised today a Polish state aid scheme which intends to encourage the development of intermodal transport through the construction of logistics centres and container terminals.
The scheme is financed from the Cohesion Fund. Subsidies will be granted by the Ministry of Infrastructure for the construction of intermodal infrastructure, the purchase of equipment and the development of port infrastructure. Aid will be available to intermodal operators and port managers. The maximum aid intensity is 50% in the case of infrastructure and 30% in the other cases.
The scheme will be in place until 31 December 2015 with a budget of € 111 million.
The Commission has found the notified measure necessary and proportional and therefore compatible with the competition rules of the EC Treaty.
