Commission authorises acquisition by Riva (Italy) of Société des Aciers d'Armature pour le Béton (France)
The European Commission has authorised, under both Article 66 of the ECSC Treaty and the Merger Regulation, the acquisition by Riva Acciaio SpA (Riva) of Société des Aciers d'Armature pour le Béton (SAM). Both companies are active in the supply of steel reinforcing products to the construction industry.
Riva is a major steel producer active in both the flat and long steel product sectors. It is producer of wire rod and of steel reinforcement products derived from wire rod and used in the construction industry. SAM is a steel producer specialising in the production of wire rod and reinforcement products.
The Commission's investigation showed that the proposed operation would not give rise to competition problems and the Commission has accordingly authorised it.
