European Commission visits the European Court of Auditors in Luxembourg
Today, the European Commission will visit the European Court of Auditors (ECA), in Luxembourg. President Barroso, several Vice-Presidents and Commissioners will meet ECA President Caldeira and several members of the Court to take stock of the relations between the two institutions and to exchange views on on-going issues. This meeting is part of the well-established and regular meetings to ensure proper execution and control over EU budget. Following the discharge voted by the European Parliament on the 2010 budget last month, the ECA has now launched its assessment on the execution of the 2011 budget, with the view to present its report next autumn. Against this background, bilateral meetings on key policy areas will take place between Commission and ECA members.
Tomorrow, European Commissioner for Development, Andris Piebalgs, will attend in Auckland the EU Pacific Islands Forum Ministerial Meeting, along with Christian Friis Bach, Minister of Development Cooperation of Denmark, who represents the High Representative/Vice-President of the Commission Catherine Ashton.
