The 9th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences will take place in Prague on 24-28 August 2014.
Its Scientiﬁc Committee has identiﬁed nine themes covering all aspects of Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences. The corresponding nine scientific sessions will offer the scientific community, regulators and all stakeholders a unique occasion for information exchange, discussion and debate.
As a member of the Scientific Committee, Prof. Maurice Whelan, Head of the JRC's European Union Reference Laboratory for Alternatives to Animal Testing (EURL ECVAM) will contribute to the organisation of Theme IX (Global cooperation, regulatory acceptance and standardisation). Also, many EURL ECVAM scientists are expected to act as session co-chairs and to deliver presentations. The JRC / EURL ECVAM will also have an exhibition stand which will provide a focal point for discussions and information exchange on JRC's activities in the field.
