Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, will participate in the opening of Göteborg Book Fair. She will announce which twelve writers have been awarded this year's European Union Prize for Literature.
The European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL) was established in 2009. It is awarded annually to writers representing twelve of the countries that are members of the Culture Programme of the European Union. This year, the prize will be awarded to a writer from each of the following countries: Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Luxembourg, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Macedonia.
