This conference is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and the Joint Research Centre. The event will center on the role of science as a contributor to regional cooperation-related innovative solutions which are a precondition for successful mitigation of energy security challenges in the Baltic Sea Region.
The Conference will bring together all stakeholders from governments, science and industry. It will aim at identifying regional energy security issues, stakeholders’ needs to meet regional energy security challenges and scientific potential, as well as possible instruments for responding to those needs.
The Conference is in line with the priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2013 which include: energy security, particularly the completion of the internal energy market and strengthening the external EU energy policy, and effective implementation of the European Union strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.
